Hey,
Yesterday was a big milestone for me—I officially launched LivingJournal, the first version of a journaling app I whipped up for a hackathon challenge. 🎉
Why another journaling app? Well, I’ve been using traditional notes apps forever, but they still leave me doing the heavy lifting when it comes to spotting patterns and teasing out insights. So I decided to pair journaling with AI—with surprisingly handy results.
What makes LivingJournal different?
Voice-to-text transcription
Sometimes typing just gets in the way. Just hit record, talk out loud, and the AI turns your ramble into structured text.Custom AI advisers
Create as many specialised advisers as you like—Business Mentor, Mindfulness Coach, Bonsai Whisperer (yes, really). They read your entries, extract the bits that matter, and offer tailored suggestions or questions to nudge you forward.Pattern spotting
Over time the AI starts surfacing trends—what triggers stress, what fuels focus, where you keep getting stuck—so you can act on them instead of stumbling over them.A clutter-free interface
I’m ridiculously picky about clean UI. LivingJournal stays out of your way: no ads, no neon buttons, just an uncluttered canvas for thoughts.
This is still version 1—totally usable but undeniably rough around the edges. That’s exactly why I’m opening it up now: I’d love real-world feedback while I keep polishing and shipping new goodies (support for photos and video entries is next on my list).
Product roadmap
I have a few new features in the pipeline:
iPhone app, because I want this app to be as slick as possible.
Chat with each advisor, based on your journal content or just freestyle chat with it.
Stronger security, so that your journals are not readable even if they’re hacked.
More AI tools, like turning your notes into todo lists, a blog post, or even a script for a YouTube video!
Support for any language, because most of the world no habla Ingles.
Please try it
All you need is your own OpenAI key and you’re in. Head over to livingjournal.pro and give it a spin. Let me know what works, what breaks, and what you’d love to see next—I’m all ears!
Talk soon, and happy journaling ✍️
